Privacy and Security

Privacy / Security

At Padzilla we do not sell our records to data warehouses, marketers, or other independent third parties. The only parties who receive our records/data are property owners or managers who are also customers of Padzilla.

More importantly, we never release any information concerning any individual/tenant unless that individual specifically authorizes the collection and release of that information. Further, the records/data will only be released to the property owner or manager designated by the potential tenant.

IN EFFECT, EACH INDIVIDUAL/TENANT CONTROLS WHO RECEIVES THEIR RENTAL AND CREDIT HISTORY DATA FROM PADZILLA.

TransUnionFinally, though we forward an individual tenant's credit report to their designated property owner/manager, we do not record or retain those reports pursuant to our agreements with TRANS UNION, and per the requirements of the Federal Fair Credit Act.

At Padzilla, our business is to assist tenants in finding and renting great apartments. We will always strive to assure each tenant's personal privacy as part of that process.

CREDIT CARD SECURITY

Tenant–Net does not retain, and never has retained, a credit card number in its files. A credit card number is kept only long enough to process one transaction through our payment gateway, Authorize.Net. After that, the number is no longer in our system. So, your credit card number is not put at risk by us.

We also insist on the 3 digit security number for all transactions, which assures that only “card present” transactions can occur.

Now, there is one drawback to not retaining numbers, but we think it’s a small price to pay to gain a tremendous amount of security. If our system “hiccups”, or if the payment transaction fails, and if in either case you want to try a second time, you will have to manually re–enter all the digits of your credit card, and the 3 digit security code... our system will remember your name, address etc, but it will not remember your card numbers. So, you will need to re–type them.

We think that the small cost in time and inconvenience is a price you would gladly pay to know your numbers are not kept in yet another database, and continual risk!

RECORDS SECURITY:

We believe your rental history records should be secure at all times. Here’s what we do to protect those records:

  • Many records thefts are caused by parties needlessly storing vital data on laptops, which machines can be easily lost or stolen. We do not store or retain applicant records on laptops. We maintain only one live database of records so it can be easily monitored, and cannot be physically lost like a laptop.
  • In addition, Tenant-Net software encrypts vital data as it’s entered into our system, obscuring social security numbers and driver license numbers from prying eyes. So, even if a party could get past our password protection, hack through our firewall to access actual records, those records are themselves the subject of state of the art encryption programming.
  • Tenant-Net re–visits security issues on a regular basis, and will deploy additional measures when necessary and prudent.
